A Runaway Picnic Experience

A Runaway picnic
experience

We invited Juwana out out to pick some pieces, one of the things she attributes to her success with Runaway is her keen eye for picking out pieces. Her background as an architectural designer came in handy when thinking of ways during the pandemic to create intimate experiences for people to get out of the house and make events that would normally be celebrated at a restaurant or other indoor venue feel unique and exotic breaking the monotony of their living rooms.

We stubbled upon Runaway Picnic when owner Juwana Abu-Zeinah tagged us in some of her amazing setups! Once we were aware of how she started the business and how we could be apart of the experience we wanted in. We reached out to her to see how we could work together, some of our decor and furniture pieces were just begging to be used for a beautiful summer picnic, especially considering most of it is sitting there until the Bazaar opens in the fall.
This particular photoshoot was for the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha (Eid being an Arabic term that means "feast/festival.") This celebration known as the 'Festival of the Sacrifice' is the second of the two official holidays celebrated within Islam and honors Ibrahim(Abraham to Christians) willingness to sacrifice his son Ismael as an act of obedience to God who spared his son and provided a lamb instead. Usually each family has a lamb and one third of the meat is eaten by the family while the rest is share with the poor and hungry.
