Peggy was in line for the campus pub at Queen’s University and noticed a strapping, fit man walking down the street. He was returning empty milk jugs to the corner store and with his university football bulk on (225 lbs) and five empties in each hand, he really did look like the Michelin man.  

  Typical of our beloved Peggy & Dick - Peggy was ever observant, and Dick was pondering some thought while doing some 'schlepping.' 

Peggy's  friend, who was in line with her couldn't believe that Peggy didn't know that he was one of the stars of the football team and proceeded to try to link them up. Turns out Dick was living with a classmate of theirs so there was an easy connection - he didn't stand a chance!  

They dated for the summer, but Peggy was headed around the world for a gap year in September with her brother (the beginnings of the Bazaar) so they wrote to each other from afar. Dick sent Peggy letters to PO Boxes a month ahead of where she would be. From Sri Lanka, to India, Nepal, Singapore, and Indonesia the two sent letters back and forth (which they still have to this day). 

 Those letters were pretty special because upon returning to Canada, they decided to get hitched!  

 Dick pursued a career in high-tech sales after football ended, and Peggy worked in healthy-active living managing one of the Ottawa YMCA-YWCAs. As their two kids got older they were looking for something different in their careers and with Peggy's brother looking to retire, these love birds decided to join forces and take on the Bazaar together.  

18 years of travelling the world and being business partners, as well as over 40 years of being life partners; now that is what we call a perfect pairing!
